The Y is more than a gym—it’s a place where families find support, youth discover confidence, seniors maintain friendships and individuals focus on their physical and mental well-being. As a non-profit, we are driven by a mission to nurture the well-being of all and strengthen the community we share.

Your generosity fuels this work, expanding access to programs that inspire growth, promote health and foster meaningful connections. Together, we are building a healthier, more connected community—one where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.

Thank you for investing in the future of the Eugene Family YMCA!

Future of the Y

Envisioning a Lane County with multiple Y branches

Map comparing Eugene Family Y and North Eugene site service areas, showing high population growth and lower income in overlapping regions—highlighting the urgent need for expanded YMCA programs and donor support. The Eugene Family YMCA is thrilled about this bold step toward meeting the growing needs of our community. Y leaders are exploring the opportunity to establish a second YMCA location in north Eugene to meet the demand for health, child development and community programs.

On February 28, we signed an option agreement with Lane Transit District (LTD) to evaluate a 4.83-acre property at the corner of River Road and Hunsaker Lane. Ideally positioned to serve up to 45,000 households, this potential location would mirror the success of our Don Stathos Campus, which welcomed more than 850,000 visits in its first year. The site offers an exciting opportunity to expand health, fitness and youth development programs to the neighborhoods of Bethel, River Road, Santa Clara, Gilham and beyond.

This collaboration with LTD builds on a strong partnership and reflects our shared vision of enhancing accessibility and health for all. We look forward to working closely with the community to ensure this expansion meets the needs of the region.

As we embark on this exciting journey, we remain dedicated to enhancing the well-being of every community member. This potential second location represents our commitment to ensuring that the Y remains a cornerstone of connection, health and support for generations to come.

"We’ve long understood that no single YMCA location can fully address the complex health, education, and social needs of our region—a reality reflected in the incredible response to the new Y at the Don Stathos Campus,” said CEO Brian Steffen. “We’re excited about the opportunity to evaluate the LTD property off River Road, as it offers us the potential to expand health, fitness, and youth development programs to the neighborhoods of Bethel, River Road, Santa Clara, Gilham, and beyond—areas that are not easily served by our south Eugene location. This potential second location represents our commitment to ensuring that the Y remains a cornerstone of connection, health and support for generations to come.”
