For 137 years, the Y has proudly served our region, thanks to the support of members, volunteers, donors and partners who help us build a brighter future for all.
Opening the new Y in December 2023 resulted in unparalleled growth in membership, which underscored the need to expand and broaden the Y’s impact to meet new needs. The Y’s Board of Directors and staff leaders spent months identifying the most critical ways to expand impact, resulting in a three-year strategic plan, ratified by the Board on July 17. This plan, informed by hundreds of community interviews, focuses on improving mental health, increasing access to youth development programs, enhancing community quality of life through wellness programs, and ensuring our financial stability.
To support the Y’s continued growth and community improvement work, a rate increase will be applied to all Y membership categories, day passes and 10-visit passes, effective October 1, 2024. Even before finalizing this strategic plan, Y leaders made several investments to enhance your health, wellness and community experience, thereby increasing the value of your membership. For example, we have:
- Expanded adaptive sports programs for youth with disabilities in the gymnasium and pool
- Increased youth and family-centered programs and services, including Itty Bitty Sports, Teen Strength, summer camps and the soon-to-launch E-sports
- Installed state-of-the-art equipment, such as two Dividat Senso machines, research-based cognitive motor training devices
- Expanded Evidence-Based Health Initiatives to include Pedaling for Parkinson’s™ and Bingocize®, a falls-prevention program
- Continued to offer opportunities for relationship building, such as new member socials, older adult potlucks and complimentary coffee in the lobby
The rate adjustment allows us to keep up with inflation, continue improving our facilities and equipment, and invest in our staff and workforce development.
Please know that we thoroughly examine rate increases and strive to ensure that our programs and services offer value far above and beyond monthly membership dues. We understand that these changes could create undue hardship and, as always, our commitment to accessibility and inclusivity remains unwavering. FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
Our goal is to ensure the best possible experience for our members and program participants.
REMINDERS:
- Members with financial assistance: Your current 12-month financial assistance award percentage will apply to the new rate in October. If you need additional assistance due to the increase, please reapply.
- Members with third-party billing (insurance): Your current insurance benefit is still valid and will cover your individual facility membership fee. Please note that adding additional family members, a tennis membership, the recovery suite are additional fees not covered by insurance.
