Your Y welcomes local artist and longtime Y member, Tim Boyden, to the Art for All Wall!

Tim likes to think of what he does as FUNctional art. It has the best of both worlds, gathering select bits and pieces of nature amidst the wild world, then coming back to his studio, cranking some inspiring music and designing/building with them into finished assemblages and sculptures! Be it gray weathered driftwood, ocean and river smoothed stones, or roots winding their way from broken beginnings, falling into the river during a wind storm and then making their peci journey down the mighty river, landing in the ocean to be tumbled by a wave and bleached by the powerful sun, and lastly chosen by Tim to bring home and play with!

tim boyden art's "my wish for you is that you continue. continue to be who you and how you are, to astonish a mean world with your acts of kindness. continue to allow humor to lighten the burden of your tender heart."He collaborates with mother nature: Any way he slices a tree there is a work of art mirrored back at him, perfection. To the best of his abilities, he attempts to create respectfully, changing them as minimally as possible, retaining their lovely patina, antural smoothed edges and wild soul to speak to us with their ancient wisdom.

Many moons ago he began his creative journey drawing with pencil and pen and ink. These days, he creates in many different ways, including but not limited to drwaing, building, collaging, writing poems, telling stories, teaching and encouraging artistic expression. After all, "Life is art, Art is life." He truly wakes, breathes and lives art from his early beginnings at 4 a.m. to his early crash at 8 p.m.

He feels he should be honest with Y members, he has an ulterior motive with his work! He hopes that bringing one of his creations into your home will reconnect you and your family to nature. Thus encouraging a renewed wish to live as one with nature, rekindling the wild innate intuition we are all more innocent with.

We are so excited to have Tim's wonderful work on the wall until the beginning of August!
